| In her earlier years Gretel Killeen had all the hallmarks of an academic, being school captain and a member of the Australian Debating Team, however she dropped out of law school after six weeks, when she couldn’t find the exam room. Six months later Gretel accidentally started a career as a stand-up comic when she performed a serious poem and the audience laughed. Since then Gretel has worked continuously in print, television and radio and recently reached the heights of recognisability while hosting phenomenally successful Big Brother. In her career so far Gretel has done the full gamut, she has played Ray Martin’s wife for three years in the cult classic, ‘A Town Like Dallas’ had a column with the Australian for two years, been a queen of voice-overs for over fifteen years and shared a huge ratings-winning breakfast show on Austereo . She is still heard regularly on ABC radio, won this years Mo Award for Best Female Comic and is the author of 19 books, many of which are best sellers and published throughout the world. Gretel lives in Sydney with her two children , who not only inspire her... but also do cheap illustrations for her books |
