| Rated by many commentators as being perhaps one of the most brilliant players and captains of Rugby League, ever!
Called an "inspiring leader" by other greats of Rugby League.
Throughout the 1980’s and up until 1992 Wally Lewis was the charismatic and dominant player in Rugby League. He led Queensland back to victory in the State of Origin, played in an incredible 33 tests for Australia and for much of the decade was both Queensland and Australian Captain.
As player and then Captain in representative football, Wally’s teams were not often beaten (better than 80% win rate).
His brilliant career has included the Best Player in the World Award and election to the Sport Australia Hall of Fame. But probably his greatest achievement is the respect he has gained throughout Australia.
Even people in Australian Rules crazy Melbourne and other non-league states can not only picture Wally’s face, they can put the game to his name.
